Join Longue Vue today and experience the beauty of this New Orleans landmark estate. As a member, you can enjoy inspiring art and garden exhibits, music events, workshops, festivals, and special programs throughout the year.

Our new top membership level honors and supports Longue Vue’s mission-driven preservation, sustaining dual legacies in design and community. Named for the primary design force behind the estate, Ellen Shipman, the Shipman Circle launches as Longue Vue approaches our 50th anniversary as a museum in 2030.

In addition to maximum membership benefits, the $2,500 Shipman Circle membership includes:

  • $2,250 tax-deductible donation, designated for preservation
  • Updates on preservation projects
  • Quarterly private gatherings with the executive director
  • Customizable tour with the curatorial team
  • Recognition by name or logo

Landscape architect Ellen Biddle Shipman’s timeless, masterful gardens and house interiors, completed in 1942, earned Longue Vue National Historic Landmark status in 2005 and designation as a National Park Service American Treasure in 2024. A pioneering female entrepreneur and landscape architect, Shipman shaped every aspect of the Longue Vue experience.

Gifts to the Shipman Collection support preservation and restoration of her design throughout our property.

Longue Vue is committed to a respectful relationship with the natural environment. As a proud member of the Climate Toolkit Network through Phipps Conservatory, we have eliminated leaf blowers on site (2019), single-use plastics (2021), and animal-based products in our cafe (2023). Our gardens are maintained with organic products, and our equipment is nearly all electric.

Help us continue our journey in 2026! This year, our goal is to go 100-percent electric and zero-waste.

This year we launch a new initiative focused on building relationships with our neighbors across the Palmetto Street Canal. Hello, Hollygrove will include special family memberships, camp scholarships, and more incentives to invite residents of the Hollygrove community to make Longue Vue a regular stop. Contributions to Hello, Hollygrove will support tree plantings partnerships, cross-canal collaborations, and access programs for Hollygrove residents throughout the year.

Longue Vue is happy to accept gifts of securities as well as planned giving commitments to help support our organization now and in the future. Please contact Executive Director Baty Landis at sblandis@longuevue.com to learn more about this donation option.

Longue Vue is pleased to announce the new Longue Vue Legacy Society.

Established in 2025 through the generosity of Mark Brown, Stephen Brint, and Melissa Schechter, as well as an anonymous local donor, the Longue Vue Legacy Society is envisioned as a network of individual and institutional stakeholders who plan long-term gifts to Longue Vue.

Legacy Society gifts include estate bequests, multi-year grants and pledges, and recurring retirement distributions, among other potential formats, and are designated for historic preservation. Taken together, these long-term investments are building a solid foundation for our mission: to preserve and share a legacy of design, community, and lifelong learning.

To participate in the Legacy Society or to learn more, please contact Baty Landis at sblandis@longuevue.com or (504) 330-1193.
