 Longue Vue welcomes New Orleans son, cultural ambassador, and renowned
artist, Jamar Pierre, as the 2018 Artist-in-Residence. Chosen by The NOLA
Foundation to create artwork for the official Tricentennial Celebration print
titled Resilience, Pierre is bringing over 20 years of experience and a lifetime
of passion for sharing the spirit and culture of the city to Longue Vue.

Kids Create is a time of creativity, art, and fun for children ages 6 – 10 and their parent or guardian. Work with pencils and watercolor in a creative activity inspired by the beauty of the gardens led by Jamar Pierre.

Join us for Tricentennial Artist-in-Residence, Jamar Pierre’s Artist Talk in coordination with his current exhibit “A Longer Vue.” The exhibit features 20 plus years of work from the streets of New Orleans, to Paris and Costa Rica and back again.

The exhibit runs from October 18 to December 31, 2018. Visitors are welcome to come to the Longue Vue Main House exhibition gallery at 1:30 pm to view the exhibit, the talk will begin at 2:00 pm. Cost is $5 for non-members and free for members.

Longue Vue presents Artist-in-Residence Jamar Pierre’s second exhibit titled, “A Longer Vue” on Thursday October 18th, 2018.
After many years of putting color to canvas, J.Pierre has selected works which best showcase a 25 year retrospective. If there is one thing we know about the art of Jamar Pierre, it’s that each work of art tells a story. “A Longer Vue” will be full of colorful art, each simultaneously punctuating a meaningful time for the artist, and telling a a bright and powerful story.
Open to the public, free, light refreshments provided.
Exhibit run dates: October 18, 2018 – January 6, 2019

  • Art Instructor for the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and the Contemporary Arts Center OR residencies

  • Served as brand ambassador for Louisiana when selected to participating in highly competitive residencies in Iceland, Costa Rica and the Toronto Islands, delivering meanintfug cultural exchange art talks
  • Selected by Mayors office four years in a row to design a mural honoring the country represented at each festival, orchestrating the painting of the mural by students from all over the city with final mural being exhibited in the mayors office as a permanent installation.
