 Longue Vue welcomes New Orleans son, cultural ambassador, and renowned
artist, Jamar Pierre, as the 2018 Artist-in-Residence. Chosen by The NOLA
Foundation to create artwork for the official Tricentennial Celebration print
titled Resilience, Pierre is bringing over 20 years of experience and a lifetime
of passion for sharing the spirit and culture of the city to Longue Vue.

  • Art Instructor for the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and the Contemporary Arts Center OR residencies
  • Recognized by the President of the United States committee on the Arts and Humanities for involvement with the Turnaround Arts program.
  • Professional art teacher for schools throughout the city for the last 20+ years
  • Recipient of Louisiana Parks & Recreation Award for design and implementation of youth based art programs in partnership with New Orleans Arts Council and New Orleans Recreation Development Commission

FINE ART

  • Library of Congress currently exhibiting a reproduction of the original Tricentiall piece in their Adams Reading room

FOR NEW ORLEANS

  • Created official Tricentennial artwork for the NOLA 2018 Commission –  now on display in the cottage/studio
  • Currently serving as artistic ambassador for city interfacing with visiting international dignitaries, guests of honor and participating in city-wide celebratory events
  • Served as brand ambassador for Louisiana when selected to participating in highly competitive residencies in Iceland, Costa Rica and the Toronto Islands, delivering meanintfug cultural exchange art talks
  • Selected by Mayors office four years in a row to design a mural honoring the country represented at each festival, orchestrating the painting of the mural by students from all over the city with final mural being exhibited in the mayors office as a permanent installation.
  • Recognized by Gambit as one of the top 40 under 40
  • Recipient of Contemporary Arts Center (CAC)’s Sweet Art award where he was recognized as one of the exceptional artists,  educators and philanthropists influencing and contributing his efforts to  shape New Orleans’ arts and culture
