Explore the beauty of Longue Vue’s 8 acres of gardens with a 3-day plein air workshop instructed by Longue Vue Artist-in-Residence, Peg Usner. Class participants will set up easels throughout the property to create their paintings. Through Peg’s instruction and demonstration, students will be guided to a finished work.
This is a course for beginning or advanced oil painters who wish guidance in plein air painting. Suggestions, critiques and demonstrations will be offered throughout each session. Artists are asked to the bring oil painting supplies (list below). Class supplies can be found at Mo’s Art Supply (New Orleans & Covington locations).
Nonmembers: $40/class or $100 for the series. Members: $30/class or $80 for the series.
The students will be expected to have painting materials: easel, palette, oil paints, brushes, turpenoid and/or medium, paper towels and/or rags, suggested ¾” canvas size 11”x14” or 9”x12” but you can bring a few sizes to choose from. Art Alternatives, Fredrix (Medium Texture) or The Edge are good choices.
Other needed items: cardboard the size of your canvas, sun visor or hat, sunscreen, water, paper towels
Strict minimum and maximum numbers apply to Longue Vue programs and workshops. A program or workshop may be cancelled or postponed if the number of attendees is less than the minimum number of attendees required. Longue Vue reserves the right to cancel a paid program or workshop due to unforeseen circumstances. If this occurs, confirmation will be sent to confirm that the program or workshop is being cancelled or postponed. A full refund or transfer to another program or workshop will be available.
