Plein Air Workshop with Peg Usner - September Session
Explore the beauty of Longue Vue’s 8 acres of gardens with a 3-day plein air workshop
Classes will be held from 9:00AM to 12:00PM on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Class participants will set up easels in the gardens to create their paintings. Through Peg’s instruction and demonstration, students will be guided to a finished work. This is a course for beginning or advanced oil painters who wish guidance in plein air painting. Suggestions, critiques and demonstrations will be offered throughout each session.
Artists are asked to bring oil painting supplies (list below). Class supplies can be found at David’s, Mo’s Art Supply(New Orleans & Covington locations).
Students must have the following materials:
- Easel
- palette
- oil paints (Winton, Gamblin or equal)
- white
- cadmium yellow light
- cadmium yellow hue
- cadmium orange
- cadmium red
- alizarin crimson
- ultramarine blue
- raw sienna
- viridian hue
- burnt umber
- #4, #6, #8, #10 flat brushes are best
- Turpenoid and/or oil medium
- paper towels and/ or rags
- suggested 3/4″ canvas size 11″x14″ or 9″x12″ (Art Alternatives, Fredrix or The Edge are good canvas choices)
Other needed items:
- cardboard the size of your canvas,
- sun visor or hat,
- sunscreen,
- drinking water and
- bug spray.
