Join artist Annie Moran at Longue Vue for a watercolor workshop exploring watercolor landscapes. This class is part of a workshop series; guests wanting to purchase tickets to all three sessions can click here. Each class is limited to 16 students. Advance tickets required. Registration closes the Friday before each workshop at noon.
March 26 Session: Watercolor Landscapes
Students will be guided through the completion of a watercolor landscape painting en plein air (outdoors) in the gardens at Longue Vue. Techniques and concepts introduced/expanded on in this session include brush movement, value, light and color, layering and wet-in-wet technique. Drawing experience and familiarity with very basic watercolor techniques is strongly recommended.
Paper and paints will be provided. Students are asked to bring their own brushes, pencils, erasers and a water vessel (i.e. coffee can or spaghetti sauce jar.) Required brushes/materials:
- 1 inch flat
- number 12 round
- number 7 round
- script, size 1
- watercolor block,140 lb. cold pressed, in size of your choice
- blanket, to sit and paint on
About Annie Moran
Annie Moran is a Louisiana born artist and designer whose playfully elegant style takes form through many disciplines. In addition to her fine art work as a painter, she transforms watercolor paintings into surface pattern designs for home décor and stationery, and designs and produces her own fine jewelry line. After receiving her BFA from LSU, Annie worked in New York City for over 12 years as an accessories designer in the corporate fashion industry, lived in Rio De Janeiro for a brief stint, and has now returned to live in New Orleans, closer to the culture and wildlife that most inspire her work.
