First Friday Tours & Tea
Enjoy a specialty house tour led by our Historian and Curator, Lenora Costa, and a specialty garden tour led by Director of Gardens Amy Graham. The combination tour ($70) includes teatime and treats at Edith & Edgar’s Museum Cafe between tours. Each tour will focus on exploring the connection between the house and garden designs. This is a unique opportunity for guests to engage with our on-site historical and horticultural experts, taking a deeper dive into the legacy of Longue Vue.

Designed for children under 5 and their parents, Sprouts is a space for structured garden exploration, creativity, and free play. Come join us in our interactive children’s Discovery Garden this summer on the first Saturday of the month from 9:30AM to 11AM. Garden Educator Mariah Theobald will lead a group activity followed by a connected craft.
The theme of this session is “Life Cycles.”
$10 per participant; $5 for annual members
Vue Crew Kids Garden Club – “Life Cycles”
Vue Crew Kids Garden Club meets once per month this summer! Students ages 5 to 10 can make new friends while learning about gardening techniques, nature-inspired art, and their connection to the natural world. Each meeting will have a seasonal theme.
The theme of this session is “Life Cycles.”

Free Family Sunday!
Come enjoy Longue Vue Gardens as our guest! Louisiana families are admitted to Longue Vue FREE of charge the first Sunday of every month. Bring a picnic or purchase snacks at Edith & Edgar’s Museum Cafe, explore the children’s Discovery Garden, and make yourself at home in our eight beautiful acres. Tours of our historic house museum will be half-priced on this date.
Please note that pets are not permitted on the Longue Vue grounds.
Summer ‘Scapes Begins
Students ages 5 to 10 can spend summer break indulging in nature, learning gardening techniques, honing STEM skills, and enjoying free play – all in the inspiring beauty of the Longue Vue gardens. One-week sessions begin on June 6 and continue through the end of July; registration for all sessions opens March 1.

We have projects for all levels of experience – including the first time gardener! Students may earn service hours for school by volunteering. This summer, Junior Garden Volunteers will meet every Tuesday morning from 10AM to 12PM in June and July.

Sound Bath with Swan Michelle
Created by Swan Michelle, this event is a Swan River Yoga original. It is a sound therapy concert, experienced lying down, designed to recalibrate the nervous system and cleanse the energy body while in conscious stillness.
In yoga, sound, or listening, was the original form of healing, called “Nada Brahma.” Consciously, through listening, the healing benefits of receptivity are activated. The creative experience of Sound Bath will engage you and your family in active silence and a deep reset of the sacred. It is a very inviting and accessible way to experience yoga for most all beings!

Family Equality Day
Longue Vue is proud to hold our seventh annual Family Equality Day presented by the Weishaupt Family Foundation. This is a free Longue Vue Pride event, on Sunday, June 12, 2022, from 10AM to 1PM. In keeping with the inclusive values of our founders, Edith and Edgar Stern, Family Equality Day celebrates and recognizes families of all shapes, sizes, and definitions, with a special focus on the LGBTQ+ community. This outdoor event is fun for all ages, with Drag Queen Story Time, dance and drag performances, fan decorating, a community resource fair, a culminating children’s parade, and other surprises.

Longue Vue has been proudly leaf-blower free since August 14, 2019! Celebrate our 4th annual Rake Day by volunteering to rake with us, or by putting down the leaf blower and raking in your own community.

Native Plant Propagation for Beginners Workshop
Join Director of Gardens Amy Graham to learn how to make plants with plants! Seed saving, storing, and cutting reproduction will be covered in this hands-on workshop. Participants will go home with collected seeds, four starter plants, and a powerful new skill set! This is an indoor and outdoor program with all tools provided. Light snacks served.

The fall session of this two-part course for ages 10 to 15 includes projects in the Longue Vue archives and Visitor Center, plus a final research presentation.

Harvest Camp
School’s out! Students ages 5 to 10 can spend holiday breaks at Longue Vue seasonal camps to explore the gardens, create art, play games, and engage in fun activities based around the seasons. Scholarships are available.
