Taken from the Main House stairs, this photo shows the lower hall in the 1950s.

Here is a photo from the Playhouse balcony the year a bubble machine was the key decorations.

New Year’s, a time to assess the year that is ending, to look forward to projects yet to come, and to celebrate that winter is at its halfway point. Longue Vue saw many New Year’s Eve celebrations from small family affairs during World War II to large galas with an open house. Though the traditions expanded with the family, one consistency was decorations in the Playhouse, red and white striped awnings based off of a trip to Spain, or synthetic snow and candles in all of the windows.
